Have you everw ondered about the back story for one of your favorite television characters? Well, if you are a fan of the television series The Vampire Diaries you are in luck.

I have been reading The Vampire Diaries: Stefan's Diaries Vol. 1 Origins and while I haven't finished the book yet, from what I have read it is a must read. Here is a preview of what you can expect from the novel.

In recent episodes of the television series, we have been able to see glimpses of Stefan and Damon Salvatore before Katherine entered their lives. Now, with The Vampire Diaries: Stefan’s Diaries Vol. 1 Origins, you have the chance to dive deeper into the mystery that is Stefan Salvatore.

The Vampire Diaries television series is based on a series of novels by L.J. Smith which was developed for the CW network by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec. This book is based on the television version about how Stefan became a vampire. I think it is cool that the show is returning to its roots with a new series of books, even though L.J. Smith has two books of her own to follow upon her previous four novels.

While countless series of books have been turned into movies or television series, it is rare that a television series be turned into a book. It happens, just not very often. The Vampire Diaries: Stefan’s Diaries Vol. 1 Origins has made the New York Times bestseller list since release on Nov. 2.

The book Origins, the first of a three-part series, starts with the part of Stefan’s history before Katherine has entered his life. Stefan's father is forcing him into a marriage witha woman named Rosalyn but Stefan does not love her. But, he wants to be a good son so he goes along with his father’s wishes.

I like that the book focused on his life before he became a vampire instead of just jumping straight to his transformation into a vampire. Something else I look forward to reading more about is Stefan’s birth as a vampire. I think the book will be able to give us more detail and help fill in the blanks. Plus, I can't wait unitl I get to see more of the history for characters that you may remember are included in the book, including Jonathan Gilbert, Pearl and Anna.

If you have yet to watch the series, I think you should check out this series of books. Unlike the original novels by L.J. Smith, this series will go along more with the television version. Plus, it gives you a taste of what to expect in the series.

The Vampire Diaries: Stefan’s Diaries: Bloodlust will explore the early times of Stefan and Damon’s lives as vampires, something the T.V. series has yet to do.

If you are a true fan of The Vampire Diaries, this is a must read for you. If you are not, well, then I guess you will just have to miss out.
