In cinema, the threat of the apocalypse usually occurs in Los Angeles, New York City, or any major city with a significant population to decimate. In the newly released film Legion, directed by Scott Stewart, the apocalypse threatens a rinky-dink diner in the Mojave Desert. At this 50’s inspired time warp in the middle of nowhere, average individuals brought together by chance have to rely on their wits and each other against a legion of angels, in order to protect a young girl pregnant with humanity’s last hope of survival. On their side is the vigilante Archangel Michael, played by Paul Bettany, who disagrees with God’s order to destroy humanity by possessing them with angels to destroy themselves and each other. It is up to Michael and the rest to restore a disenchanted God with faith in humanity once again.

Dear Advise Me:
I’m having a very hard time sitting down and focusing on my school work at the end of the day. I have all morning classes back to back (3 in a row), and then I go to work right after my last class from 11 to 6 p.m. When I get home, I’m starving, so I sit down with my family to eat, and after that I’m worn out. Even when I go to my room to avoid distractions, I still get distracted and can’t focus on my homework or studies. I need to focus because my first tests in all my classes show that I can’t focus. Can you give me some advice about how I can change this?

The Book of Eli, the latest film from the Hughes Brothers (Menace 2 Society, From Hell) follows the travels of Eli (Denzel Washington), a man who has been on a quest to deliver a “special but rare” book to the West Coast of the post apocalyptic United States for roughly 30 years. Along the way, he encounters a man by the name of Carnegie (Gary Oldman), the owner of a small town and the leader of a gang who has hopes of expanding into other towns. To do this, Carnegie believes this book is his key to expansion and without it, his dreams are simply a lost cause.

Once upon a time, the soap opera genre ruled daytime television. However, in recent years the ratings for soaps have been declining. So far, two of daytime’s longest running soaps have been a casualty of these declining ratings and a bad economy.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is known as the Ghost Whisperer these days. And it looks as if she’s going to have her hands full this year. That’s because she is writing her first book and working on a comic book series. Now, if you’re a fan of Ghost Whisperer there’s no need to worry; she will continue to help the dead cross over to the other side. I’m guessing Hewitt is just looking to follow in the footsteps of other celebrities trying to make it as published writers.
