To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Monday in true Irish style, you will have to leave campus because alcohol is not allowed. But, do not worry, there are plenty of local areas to enjoy a true Irish celebration.

The celebration begins on Saturday in Little Rock with the St. Patrick’s Day parade starting at 1 p.m. The parade starts near t h e Arkansas Democrat Gazette building and ends in the Argenta district of North Little Rock. Following the parade, the stage of Creegen’s Irish Pub in North Little Rock will display traditional Irish dancing from the McCaferty School of Irish Dance, the O’Donovan School of Irish Dance and the Lion College Pipe Band.

But, if you want to stay on the Little Rock side, the River Market will host a pub crawl beginning at 9 p.m. For the cost of $10, participants can roam from bar to bar in the area and enjoy the holiday. The pub crawl will continue on Monday.

If the price of gas keeps you local on the holiday, Daly’s Downtown in Dardanelle will sell green draft beer for $1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The dinner special is a 10-ounce ribeye for $10.95. The bar will host Chris Gulley as entertainment on the piano.

The ultimate Irish pub experience in the area is up the road i n Altus at Kelt’s. The bar pub only makes corn beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day, so you definitely want to get it while you can. A plate of corn beef and cabbage is $10.95. The pub will host the Acoustic Regugees, a non-Celtic local band. Kelt’s prides itself in having a number of British beers on tap. Kelt’s is located in the downtown area of Altus. If you get lost or for more information, contact them at (479) 468-2413.

For those who do not aspire to drink on the holiday but still want to have some fun, Cici’s Pizza has agreed to let the Kappa Sigma fraternity take over for a few hours to raise money, beginning at 4 p.m. The men will earn their money from the restaurant, along with tips collected. The all-you-can-eat buffet at Cici’s is $4.49 per adult. Credit cards are not accepted.

On St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is Irish so be sure to celebrate. Don’t forget to wear green.
