Pizza can be a student's late night crave, in-between class lunch cram, or a finals week comfort food. However, most pizza recipes contain lots of carbohydrates with unhealthy fats and consuming large amounts of both can create health problems. There are many healthier alternative recipes for pizza that pack just a much taste with less calories, like this recipe courtesy of Cooking Light magazine. Turkey Sausage and tomato Pizza • 1 lb whole-grain pizza dough • Cooking spray • 2 links turkey Italian sausage • 4 oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, chopped • 1 tblsp. Oil from sun-dried tomatoes • 6 slices reduced-fat provolone cheese • 2 cups grape tomatoes, halved • Crushed red pepper or 1 tblsp. Grated parmesan 1. Preheat oven to 450. 2. While oven preheats, shape the pizza dough into 15 x 10 inch rectangle. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray and transfer the dough to it. Place in oven on the bottom rack while oven continues to reheat. Bake for 10 minutes 3. While crust prebakes, cook sausage in skillet over med-high heat until brown, crumble the sausage. 4. Remove pizza crust, rub with sun-dried tomato oil and sprinkle the sun-dried on top of the crust. Top with the provolone cheese, sausage and grape tomatoes. Bake at 450 on bottom rack for 8 minutes. To finish, sprinkle with the pepper or cheese and serve.
