Last Monday the pelvis fractured after suffering a fall at home.

Former President Jimmy Carter was released from the hospital where he was treated after fracturing his pelvis in a fall at his home, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

Carter was discharged from the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center "and is now looking forward to continuing to recover at his home in Plains, Georgia, and thanks everyone for his encouragement messages," said Carter Center spokeswoman Deanna Congileo.

The 95-year-old former president fell into his home Monday night. Deanna Congileo said in a previous statement that it was a minor fracture and that Carter was in good spirits in the hospital and eager to recover at home.

It is the third fall that Carter suffers in recent months. The first time was in the spring, and he had to have surgery to replace his hips. The second was on October 6 and, despite receiving 14 stitches, that same day he went to Nashville, Tennessee, to meet with volunteers and help build a home for the Habitat for Humanity humanitarian group.
