Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Head Volleyball Coach Kristy Bayer recently announced that her team has scheduled eight promotional theme nights for the 2011 regular season home schedule at Tucker Coliseum the next being September 27. Saturday afternoon Tech defeated Bacone College in three back-to-back set victories (25-8, 25-13, 25-19 and 25-17, 25-14, 25-12) at Tucker Coliseum and improved to 11-1 on the season and extending its winning streak to 11 straight. The Golden Suns begin a stretch of four consecutive Great American Conference matches, including two matches on the road against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. Tech opened the road trip on Tuesday with a match at Southern Arkansas, before facing Arkansas-Monticello on tonight at 7 p.m. The Golden Suns will then host East Central University on Tuesday at Tucker Coliseum where it will be “Green and Gold Night.” During this event Green and Gold club members will receive access to the Green and Gold Room at Tucker Coliseum prior to the match where Coach Bayer and her coaching staff will host a “chalk talk” detailing exclusive information about that night’s opponent and all other 2011 foes. Drinks and snacks will be provided and the Green and Gold members will have access to special floor seating during the match, which begins at 7 p.m. Tech’s third promotional night of the year will be its annual “Pack the Stands Night” against conference rival Harding Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. Coach Bayer said she hopes to see an even bigger turnout than last year, where a school record single-match crowd of 983 were in attendance. “This has been a very successful night for us in years past,” said Bayer, who is in her eighth season at the helm of the Golden Suns. “Obviously, we were very close to the 1,000 mark last year, so our goal for this year is to finally get that number over 1,000 and set a GAC attendance record.” Are you going to “Pack the Stands” at Tucker Coliseum Sept. 29 and be part of Tech history? |
