Tiger Woods reaches the pinnacle of his fame

He has already rewritten his story in the greatest way. He returned after a thousand frustrations, competed ... It seemed that nothing was left to do for Tiger Woods. And yet, there it was again: he won the Zozo Championship in Japan and reached 82 titles in the PGA golf circuit, so he matched the record that Sam Snead had held alone for 54 years.

The title allowed Tiger to climb from tenth to sixth in the world rankings and be close to his best location in 2019: he was fifth after ninth in the Memorial Tournament. Woods finished 2018 in 14th place, when in December 2017 he had become in 1,199th place. Less than two years were enough to climb 1,193 places.

"The week was long. It was stressful, of course," Tiger said. And he didn't dismiss the fight with his pursuer: "It was much tighter than people might have thought. Hideki (Matsuyama) pressed me," he said.
