This week became a very good for fans of Billie Eilish since she just dropped a new music video for her single called «xanny». The core message of the song has to do with drug abuse and even more than that.

Billy has explained the song lyrics in a couple of places but we are going to talk about the imagery in the music video. In a video she looked like she is in a padded room, she is sitting on the bench, the wall behind her looks padded. It seems to be a reference to mental illness.

She is just sitting there and singing, it’s all one shot. All of sudden hands come up from the sides of the screen with cigarettes and just burn her face and they make burn marks. Then she walks out and this puff of smoke comes from the side.

It seems for Billie Eilish the song feels like it has a very deep personal significance.

She is singing «Still just drinking canned coke, i don't need a xanny to feel better, on designated drives home ,only one who's not stoned, don't give me a xanny now or ever». It’s definitely a very strong anti-drug sentiment and it feels very straightforward. For Billie this song actually means something for her, refers to some interviews to having possibly lost friends to drug abuse.
