Else Lasker-Schüler is well known not only in Germany, but all over the world. She is considered to be one of the best German authors. This makes her extremely famous and unique.
Her first poem «Mein blaues Klavier» was published in Switzerland in 1937 and it literally excited a lot of people. By the way, this poem became the basis of today's doodle with quite a stunning drawing that includes camels, birds, palm trees and some creative ideas.
It seems the author of today's Doodle truly admires Else Lasker-Schüler and her incredible style. She was born on February 11, 1869. But she has kept all her fame although a lot of time has passed! She tried her hand at being an artist and created various paintings. As Else was becoming older, she began to try in other spheres and became a poet.
When Else turned 25, she got married and left for Berlin and it was the step that made her famous. During her life in Berlin Else Lasker-Schüler published her first poems and started communicating with other artists and poets becoming more and more popular.
She used unbelievable color and contrast, which stunned everyone. Words aren't enough - just look at today's Doodle, it depicts the combination of colors in her special style very well.
During World War II, she was forced to move to Israel, where she continued her work becoming more and more famous. She achieved a lot and in 1932, even received the most prestigious award of her time - the Kleist Prize.
