Why the wedding of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise still the “weirdest one?”
By: Margaret Wilson
Murphy's law states that if something can go wrong, it will certainly go wrong. It seems to us that this formulation is the best suited to describe the marriage of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise that still stuns fans although the celebs haven't been together for many years.
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise tied the knot on November 18, 2006. The wedding ceremony was held according to the rules of the Church of Scientology that had been supported by the actor. There were many guests at a celebration that took place in a medieval castle in the city of Bracciano. But Katie's parents ignored the invitation.
The actress' father, who was a Catholic, refused to attend the Scientology wedding. And he didn't like the chosen one of the daughter, who was 17 years older than her.
The weirdness of the wedding ceremony did not end there. Tom waited for his beloved for more than 20 minutes - Katie was late. This time seemed like an eternity, but the actor smiled and nothing showed his excitement.
Two ministers from the US arrived at the ceremony and Cruise promised something unusual to his young wife. One of the officials read the special oath that Tom gave to Katie. The husband has committed himself to provide his wife throughout their life with clothes, food, happiness, pans, combs and a cat.
Instead of the usual gifts for guests, which include sweets and a remedy for a hangover, the newlyweds presented each of the invited Chrome Hearts sunglasses.
