Leonardo DiCaprio informed of finding a new tortoise species
By: Linda Davis
Leonardo DiCaprio reported on his Instagram page that recently an individual from an extremely rare tortoise species was found on the Galapagos’ Fernandina Island.
According to Leo’s words, it hasn’t been seen for over 100 years but last February a tortoise female was noticed on the island. This week the Galapagos Conservancy and the Parque Nacional Galápagos will risk their health because of scorching sunlight and a geologically active volcano to find more animals if possible. Everyone is waiting for the results of a genetic test to check whether the found tortoise is really the Fernandina Galapagos Tortoise. The Global Wildlife Conservation is interested in this lost species.
Leo has posted a pic with the beautiful turtle that seems to be large enough. While some of his followers thanked the star for supporting our planet, others were not as positive. They are more interested in DiCaprio as an actor, not as an environmentalist.
